RIMTA is extending the deadline for training applications. The new deadline is November 15, 2011.

Through generous support from the RI Governor’s Workforce Board, RIMTA members with a valid business in the state are eligible to apply for financial support for qualified and approved industry skills training. Due to the nature of these funds, certain restrictions do apply:
o Training must begin after November 7, 2011 and be completed by June 1, 2012.
o Training must be connected to a wage increase, a certification and/or a promotion.

Pressure Wash Compliance Seminar

Dear RIMTA Members, Marina Owner/Operator,

Last year The Rhode Island Marine Trades Association negotiated an extended deadline for the implementation of Pressure Wash Water Discharge elimination. This was done to permit the development of new methodologies for treatment. The agreement requires RIMTA to hold a series of workshops to inform marina owner/operators of what is required and what technologies are now available to fulfill the requirements of the regulations.

The New Deadline is January 1, 2011

Shrink Wrap Program Update

Participate in the RIMTA Shrink Wrap Recycling Program can help save space at the Rhode Island Central Landfill and save you money on disposal fees. Bags sell for $10.00 which includes delivery and pick up.

The Rhode Island Marine Trade Association (RIMTA) has taken all administrative duties of the Shrink-wrap program. Previously you have purchased bags and scheduled pick ups through IRN. Now all scheduling and bag purchasing will be through RIMTA.

Lynch: Floating LNG terminal ill-conceived

PROVIDENCE — Testifying before a special Senate task force Tuesday, Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch called a proposal for a floating liquefied natural gas terminal in Mount Hope Bay ill-conceived.
