Senior Buyer
Lightolier, a division of Philips, is a major manufacturer of lighting fixtures with their corporate headquarters located in Fall River MA. I was employed in a contract position as a Senior Buyer at this facility. My purchasing responsibilities included the purchasing of die castings, stampings, metal fixtures, corrugated boxes, import components from China, Mexico and Canada and all sub-contract work done outside the facility. The ERP / Glovia system is used in an ISO 9001 environment. I reduced costs and inventory consistently while employed at Lightolier.

2003-2005 Mansfield Mortgage Lincoln, RI

Mansfield Mortgage is a mortgage broker & lender for primarily residential mortgages. As a Loan Officer I performed a detailed application process that included current and background information on prospective customers. I researched the best refinance or purchase program for the customers, which most closely fits the parameters that they have outlined. I also ordered appraisals of the properties, collected verification data for package submission to national lenders and assisted solving problems that the processing and closing departments may have encountered.

The Westerbeke Corporation is a manufacturer of generator sets for the marine industry. My responsibilities included vendor sourcing domestically and internationally for new projects and cost reduction initiatives; negotiation of cost reductions with new vendors, solicit bids, providing procurement support to the new product engineering group; track material costs during the new product development process; notify commodity buyers of design changes and provide support as needed; initiate cost reduction projects as identified by the director of engineering; verification of costs and standards and the costing of all raw materials and finished products on new model generator sets. Purchasing of aluminum and iron castings, project development, capital expenditures such as multi-cored cast iron shell core tooling, machined, metal fabricated, electro-mechanical, electronic and rubber components. Researched and developed a new vendor to manufacture and fabricate trailers and housing for generator sets.
Researched and developed a new vendor for starter motors and new vendors for aluminum castings. Annual cost reduction exceeded $100,000. A man-man purchasing system was used.

1990-2000 Chem-Tainer Industries/Todd Marine Products Cranston, RI
Senior Buyer/Materials Manager
Responsible for procuring raw materials and industrial supplies, vendor sourcing and cost negotiation. My purchasing responsibilities included aluminum castings, extrusions and tubing direct from mills and foundries as well as finished products including pumps, motors, injected molded and rotationally molded plastic parts, industrial and maintenance supplies. A JIT system was used. My responsibilities also included verifying accuracy of incoming invoices, supervising the receiving department, stockroom staff and company driver; overseeing the distribution of materials and inventory levels; budget planning and costing on all finished products.
I was in charge of contract negotiations and responsible for purchasing $5 million a year in raw materials, industrial and maintenance supplies.
Through vendor sourcing and negotiation I reduced cost of boxes by $20,000 per year, fasteners by $25,000 per year, castings by $20,000 per year, aluminum extrusions by $7,000 per year.
Purchased aluminum castings, extrusions machined parts and plastic injection molded parts from Taiwan in excess of $1 million per year.
Researched and developed a supplier base that works with cost reduction initiatives and MRP/JIT systems.
