The receivership was the result of ongoing cash flow problems caused by the company’s inability to obtain refinancing and by the termination of a construction contract by one of the company’s international customers, according to the company.

Local aid, pensions key to Carcieri budget plan

Gov. Donald L. Carcieri tonight unveiled a mid-year state budget package that calls for a $153.89 million cut in local aid, assumes $54 million in savings from pension reforms and eliminates more than 490 vacant jobs as part of an effort to close a projected $357.4 million shortfall.

State moving to sell Shooters property

The R.I. Department of Transportation (DOT) yesterday started the process to sell by the end of 2009 the former Shooters nightclub parcel along Narragansett Bay in Fox Point. The parcel is one that East Side neighborhood advocacy groups would like to use to increase public access to the city’s waterfront.
